This is the application to be considered for Bunzel's BBQ Competition Cookoff 2026, happening June 12-13, 2026.
WHEN:
Friday, June 12, 2 pm to 4:30 pm (arrival and set up)
Saturday, June 13, 7:30 am to 3 pm (cooking, judge's tasting, and awards)
WHAT:
Competition includes a BBQ cook-off of ribs and chicken. Both meats will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges. There will also be a special People's Choice award for the chicken.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE ENTRY FEE:
• 40 pounds of chicken breast will be supplied to each participating team
• A $300 cash prize will be awarded to the Competition Grand Champion. Cash prizes will also be awarded in the Ribs and Chicken categories: 1st place - $150, 2nd place - $75, 3rd place - $50

• The People's Choice Award winner will receive local restaurant gift cards, Lakefront beer, and more
• Judges will be provided
• All participants receive a HartFest t-shirt
• Advertising and marketing of the cook-off will be provided—200 tickets will be available to the public for the People's Choice Tasting

You will be notified within 2 weeks of applying if you have been approved to compete. Application deadline is Saturday, June 6, but spots for the competition could be filled before then.
